Wes Brown’s journey to Harrison County and eventually settling today in Bridgeport is not the path he perceived as a young man growing up Dorchester County in South Carolina. It was a rough area, he said, and he learned how to work hard at a young age.
“Dorchester is rural like West Virginia, minus the hills,” said Brown. “I grew up farming peanuts, so the path to get here was long and unexpected for sure as a kid. That’s what football did for me. It taught me to look up and never look down.”
The hard work ethic came from his parents. His father was an engineer and his mother cleaned houses and worked full time while the family tended the peanut farm as well.
