The former Macy’s retail space at South Hill Mall in the Puyallup area is set to be filled with a new discount retailer.

Discount Collection is scheduled to open June 1. According to a release this week from the mall’s communications team, the 114,400-square-foot store “will occupy a two-story space on the west side of the mall, near Round 1 entertainment.”

The retailer also has stores in Olympia and Auburn.

The store specializes in items tied to liquidation or overstock items from other stores, including Costco, Macy’s, Target, Amazon and Sam’s Club among others, offering products at steep discounts.

Macy’s announced closure of its store at the mall earlier this year.

Items for sale at the stores include appliances, furniture, shoes, clothes, camping gear, toys and electronics.

This month will see the opening of an Xfinity by Comcast storefront at the mall near Target. The 1,300-square-foot store will offer mobile devices, along with serving customers on internet and cable TV services contracts.

Next year, Hong Kong Market will open at South Hill Mall, set for the summer of 2026. According to the release, “This new supermarket will feature over more than 31,000 square feet of international food products, fresh produce, meat, fish and poultry.”

It added that “The Food Hall inside will satisfy those who crave handcrafted Bahn Mi sandwiches, traditional Chinese barbecue, spring rolls, Boba drinks and more.”

The Seattle-based international grocer will be along 94th Avenue East, near Red Robin.

The news of new storefronts comes on the heels of last week’s announcement of a new Barnes & Noble set to open at the mall in October.

The release also noted that the nearby 108-unit Homewood Suites by HIlton is nearing completion. The five-story extended-stay hotel is on the north side of the mall complex across from Regal Cinemas.

Major New Additions on the Way at

 South Hill Mall

Five new businesses are on their way to South Hill Mall in Puyallup, Washington.  All of them offer much-desired products and, in some cases, nourishment and refreshment, for either for the mind or body.

For those who love the “department store experience” but are discriminating shoppers always looking for great value, Discount Collection is about to fill a huge void.  Discount Collection will feature a broad array of apparel, housewares, electronics and many other categories.  The 114,400 square foot store will occupy a two-story space on the west side of the mall, near Round 1 entertainment.  It will welcome its first customers on June 1.  This is the third location for Discount Collection, which also has stores in Olympia and Auburn.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers will introduce an all-new location by early fall.

The store will occupy more than 19,000 square feet near JCPenney and DSW, featuring a magnificent selection of traditional fiction and non-fiction works, as well as subscription services for online books.  Customers will also find a comfortable café where they can relax with a beverage and a snack to complement their reading.  Barnes & Noble’s beginnings can be traced to 1873, when Charles M. Barnes started a book business from his home in Wheaton, Illinois. At present, Barnes & Noble serves over 600 communities in all 50 states and remains the #1 book retailer in the United States.

This month, Xfinity by Comcast will begin serving customers near Target.  The 1,300 square foot store will offer the latest in mobile devices, along with the ability to contract for internet and TV services.

One of the most exciting additions will bring the taste of Asian cuisine to foodies and home cooks.  Hong Kong Market (HKM) will open by the summer of 2026.   This new supermarket will feature over more than 31,000 square feet of international food products, fresh produce, meat, fish and poultry.  The Food Hall inside will satisfy those who crave handcrafted Bahn Mi sandwiches, traditional Chinese barbeque, spring rolls, Boba drinks and more.  It will be located along 94th Avenue East, near Red Robin. This will be the fourth location for the Seattle-based international grocer.

Finally, a new, long-awaited hotel is scheduled for completion this summer.  Homewood Suites by Hilton will offer 108 luxurious units in a five-story structure on the northern side of the mall complex, across from Regal Cinemas. Each suite in this extended stay hotel will feature separate living and sleeping areas and a fully equipped kitchen.  Additional value-driven amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi and free hot breakfast.

Two new food court options are coming this summer to South Hill Mall in Puyallup. In a news release March 8, the mall announced that Sizzlin Spice and South Hill Gyros would join the business roster. Sizzlin Spice will offer traditional Indian cuisine and will feature “build your own bowls,” with an array of proteins, vegetables and sauces. Their menu will feature butter chicken and paneer tikka masala, as well as other meat and/or seafood options along with vegetarian and vegan dishes. The vendor will be located in the mall’s food court and set to open by June, according to the release, and will feature a clay oven in its food preparation, including baking traditional naan bread. South Hill Gyros also will debut this summer at the food court. The eatery will offer a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern-inspired menu, with chicken, lamb and beef gyros, kabobs, shawarma platters (typically featuring thin cuts of grilled meat with vegetables and sauce), dolma (stuffed grape leaves) and wraps, according to the release. TOP VIDEOS For those not seeking meat with their dish, the menu will include Greek salads and hummus served with pitas or naan bread. Desert items include ayran (a Turkish yogurt drink), baklava and Bakdash kulfi (Syrian ice cream on a stick), according to the release. Exact opening dates are still to be announced.
