Pulling Back the Curtain: Macy’s Backstage Styles a Grand Opening Event at Eastwood Mall

 

After building local buzz during its soft launch, the wait for the main event is over. Macy’s is officially celebrating the arrival of its high-fashion, off-price concept with the Macy’s Backstage Grand Opening Event at Eastwood Mall on Saturday, March 14, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

This community-wide celebration promises a high-energy afternoon, filled with more than just incredible deals. The event features a curated lineup of local favorites and family-friendly entertainment including:

  • Local Flavors: Sweet treats from One Hot Cookie and savory delights from The Amish Country Market East.
  • Vibrant Atmosphere: A live DJ spinning the latest hits and professional face painting for the kids.
  • Exclusive Giveaways: Guests will have the chance to score Macy’s Backstage branded swag, including 100 limited-edition reusable totes, as well as store gift cards throughout the event.

Macy’s Backstage shopping experience set to open inside Eastwood Mall in Niles

Mahoning Valley shoppers will soon have access to Macy’s Backstage, an “ever-changing assortment of carefully curated brands and unexpected treasures” available at a discounted price. First launched in 2015, Macy’s Backstage has since expanded to several locations around Ohio, the newest coming to the Eastwood Mall Complex, according to the company’s Facebook page.

There’s no opening date available yet for the new Macy’s Backstage set to open up inside the existing Macy’s, bringing a new discount shopping experience to the area. Customers will find discounted apparel, accessories, home goods and cosmetics, as well as overstock department store merchandise. The corporation started added Backstage stores to existing locations and freestanding stores to drive foot-traffic and encourage the discount-shopping experience that’s difficult to replicate online. Vanessa LeFebvre played a significant role in developing Macy’s Backstage stores. “Macy’s Backstage is for the shopper who is always on the hunt for a deal, where time, convenience and money are a commodity,” she said.

Eastwood Mall to Add Next Generation DICK’S Sporting Goods Store as New Mall Anchor

Construction has officially commenced on a new Next Generation DICK’S Sporting Goods store at Eastwood Mall in Niles, Ohio. The new, larger format store will relocate from its current 52,000 square foot building in the adjacent Great East Plaza, a fixture of the Eastwood Mall Complex since 2004, into a massive, state-of-the-art 72,000 square foot anchor store within the enclosed mall. This move represents a major investment in the local community and a commitment to providing an unparalleled selection of top-tier apparel, footwear, gear & more for athletes across the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys.

The new store format completely reimagines the traditional DICK’S layout, bringing together an evolved selection of team-sport gear across baseball, softball, soccer, football, lacrosse, and hockey. The store will also include a House of Cleats, showcasing a 360-degree view of more than 400 cleats across multiple sports, an expanded premium footwear assortment, and multiple golf hitting bays equipped with Trackman technology.

“Moving and expanding DICK’S Sporting Goods to a premium anchor position within the mall is expected to drive significant traffic, benefit all of our tenants, and further solidify Eastwood Mall Complex as the region’s premier one-stop destination to shop, dine, stay and play,” said Johnny Chechitelli, mall owner CAFARO’s Regional Director of Marketing & Communications.

 

The current DICK’S Sporting Goods location in the adjacent Great East Plaza will remain open until the new store is ready to welcome customers, with a Grand Opening celebration anticipated in summer 2026. Further details regarding the official opening date and special events will be shared closer to the opening.
