Back to the Fun

For families with young children, trips to Millcreek Mall are about to get a lot more fun.  Last year, government orders shut down many play areas like the Widget Kidz Zone in the mall’s Center Court.  That’s all behind us.  Prepare to celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of the Widget Kidz Zone on Saturday, August 7.  It starts with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 AM. After that, the kids will get to meet one of their cartoon favorites, Peppa Pig.  She’ll be greeting her fans from 11:30 AM to 3 PM.  At noon, Spider Man will swing in along with Captain America.  They’ll be on hand until 4 PM.  Throughout the day, kids will enjoy balloon art with Silly the Clown and glitter tattoos from Face Painting by Connie.  It’s all FREE.

The Kidz Zone is a specially designed soft-play area for children under 42 inches tall. It is sponsored by Widget Financial.

Test your wits at 5 Wits

A fascinating and fabulously fun new attraction awaits at Millcreek Mall.  5 Wits will open its doors on Friday, March 5 at Noon.  It’s not a game room.  It’s not an escape room.  It’s 15,000 square feet of puzzle-solving adventure.  This new, interactive entertainment concept is located next to Round 1.

At 5 Wits, groups of 2-12 people get to test their wits in interactive rooms with different themes, such as Drago’s Castle, Espionage and Tomb. The players are faced with puzzles and challenges they must overcome as a team in order to progress through the rooms and complete their mission. There are computer controlled lighting and sound effects, optical illusions, and a wide variety of physical and mental puzzles and electromechanical effects.

5 Wits is recommended for players over the age of 7.  Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult (over 18).  The price per session is $29 per person, with special pricing for groups of 8 or more people.  5 Wits encourages players to reserve their sessions online at: www.5-wits.com/erie/tickets.

(NOTE:  A special sneak-preview for members of the news media will take place on Thursday, March 4 at 11 AM.)

And the winner is….

The competition was stiff but after careful consideration the winner of the Small Shop Showdown at Millcreek Mall is Farmulated CBD owned by Mark Troyer of Waterford, Pennsylvania.  He competed with a variety of other local entrepreneurs who described their business concepts to a panel of real estate leasing experts.  As the winner, Troyer will receive six months of FREE rent inside Millcreek Mall, May 1 – October 31, 2020.  The new store will occupy a 660 square foot space located on the mall’s Center Court.   In addition to the free use of store space, Troyer will receive a package of marketing assistance to help get the business off the ground, on-mall signage, a news release, digital signage and advertising on social media.

Farmulated CBD is a family owned, vertically integrated company selling CBD (Cannabidiol) infused products.  It is the only company in Pennsylvania that grows its own hemp, harvests it, extracts the CBD oil, formulates and markets the products.  These premium products include CBD oil, roll on, body lotion, capsules and pet treats.

The judges of the Small Shop Showdown were very impressed with all the candidates who entered the competition.  As a result, choosing a winner was extremely difficult.  Consequently, the judges are looking forward to working with the finalists to help them bring their exciting business concepts to reality inside the mall.
