Supporting the fight to Drive it Home

 

The value of the General Motors Lordstown Complex in the economy of the Mahoning Valley is undeniable. It is important to end the uncertainty about its future. That is why the Cafaro Foundation is contributing $25,000 to the Drive it Home campaign, administered by the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber Foundation. The purpose of this campaign is to demonstrate the intrinsic value of this facility and its workers to the leadership of General Motors, with the ultimate goal of securing a new product to be manufactured at the complex.

“The Lordstown Complex and its thousands of skilled employees are too valuable a resource to squander” said Cafaro Foundation Trustee William A. Cafaro. “We think it is important to support and preserve this important part of our local economy.”

Dave Green, President of UAW Local 1112, said “Our members appreciate the Cafaro Foundation for recognizing their hard work as well as their continued dedication to our Valley. We are hopeful other organizations will be as generous as the Cafaro Foundation”

The Cafaro Foundation is a charitable entity established by the Cafaro family in loving memory of William M. Cafaro, the founder of the real estate development and management company that bears his name. For over a half century, Mr. Cafaro, along with his wife Alyce and brother John A. Cafaro, enthusiastically supported churches, schools, hospitals and other charitable causes. Since its inception in 1996, the Cafaro Foundation has awarded millions of dollars in grants to worthy organizations and individuals.
