National Magazine Names Eastwood Mall one of “Top 10 Retail Center Experiences”

The Eastwood Mall Complex in Niles, Ohio has always been recognized as one of the nation’s largest retail centers. Now a national publication, Chain Store Age magazine, has named Eastwood one its “Top 10 Retail Center Experiences”. Chain Store Age evaluated shopping centers around the nation. Its editors noted not just the size of the Eastwood Complex but the vast and growing lineup of retail stores, entertainment venues, restaurants, hotels and professional services. Most recently, the mall complex added to its lineup a 72,000 SF Dick’s Sporting Goods, and the region’s first and only Dave & Buster’s, Sierra Trading Company, and Bass Pro Shops.

“We are grateful, but not surprised, that Chain Store Age is acknowledging Eastwood’s success” said Cafaro Company Co-President Anthony Cafaro, Jr. “This success is not by chance. “Eastwood Mall is a city within a city. Actually, it spans two different municipalities,” said Cafaro co-president Anthony Cafaro Jr., whose grandfather turned a golf course into one of the nation’s largest shopping centers. “When it opened in 1969, it was anchored by Strouss (a division of May Company), Montgomery Ward, Sears, and Woolworths. Today we have three million square feet of retail in the mall and six different power centers.”
