New Look, New Attractions at
Grand Central Mall
If you like the mall now, you’re going to love what’s on the way. A major renovation is about to commence at Grand Central Mall in Vienna, West Virginia. It is designed to introduce a fresh, modern look and make the mall more comfortable and functional for its visitors and merchants. The multi-million dollar project will include new flooring, roofing, wall finishes, restrooms and more. New, energy-efficient lighting will make the concourses brighter and more appealing. Customer amenities will include attractive new seating, furniture and other interior décor. The mall entrances will be reconstructed. A significant portion of the mall’s parking areas will be repaved and made vastly brighter with new light fixtures. The entire project will be completed in time for Santa’s arrival in November, 2026.
“This is just part of our commitment to residents of the Mid-Ohio Valley region.” said Cafaro Company Co-President Anthony Cafaro, Jr. (Cafaro Company is the mall’s parent firm.) “When we purchased Grand Central Mall last year, we were incredibly impressed by its vibrant lineup of retailers and strong reputation in a trade area that spans two states. We are determined to make this wonderful shopping center even better.”
Chad Emrick, Mayor of the City of Vienna, said “The City of Vienna is extremely excited to see the renovations and new opportunities the Cafaro Company has brought to our community, we look forward to doing great things in the future.”
The General Contractor for the renovation will be Phoenix Associates, based in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Additionally, many subcontractors and tradespeople from the surrounding region are expected to participate in the work, ensuring that the economic benefits of this multi-million dollar project will directly benefit citizens of the Mid-Ohio Valley. “I’m proud to be part of the Cafaro team, and very excited about the project.” said Phoenix President Tim Coffman. “This will definitely revitalize the Grand Central Mall!
As the renovation unfolds, an exciting new business will innovate the traditional shopping experience at Grand Central Mall. The Hive Entertainment Zone is currently under construction inside the former Goody’s store space. This 20,000 square foot entertainment center, located strategically between the Food Court and Regal Cinema, will feature sports courts to accommodate basketball and dodgeball, an oversized soft play park for children, inflatables, a full arcade, a new industry leading rope land course, and more. While children are enjoying thrilling activities, parents can relax and see all the action from the Honeycomb Café, which will serve up tasty snacks, pizza and a variety of drinks. The Hive offers premier, high-quality technology that places the safety of customers as its highest priority. In addition to an interior mall entrance, The Hive will have exterior doors to access later-evening events. It is scheduled to welcome its first customers in November of this year
In addition to The Hive, discussions are underway with several retailers and other businesses potentially interested in opening locations at Grand Central Mall.
